China’s landscape is huge and varied. From the deserts in the north-west area (Gobi Desert and Taklamakan Desert) down to the subtropical forests in the southeast. Due to his typical continental climate, the best periods of the year for visiting China are the spring and autumn seasons, except for Hainan, a tropical island located in south-east where the temperature is between 20 and 38 degrees through out the year.   

Tourism in China has enormously expanded in the last 30 years. During 1978, following the reforms initiated by Deng Xiaoping, China received 230.000 foreign tourists. In 2010, the number of overseas tourist was almost 56 million including business travelers (35%). China has been a member of WTO since 11 December 2001.

China most visited cities are Beijing, Shanghai, Xian and Hong Kong.
